If you’re struggling with intense emotions that feel like they are controlling you and behaviors that help in the short term but only make life harder — you’re in the right place. A lot of times we continue to struggle, not because we don’t want to change, but because we don’t know how to do things differently. I can teach you tangible skills to have more choice and control over your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Learning these skills can make the difference between your emotions dictating your life and you finally being in the drivers seat.
My style is genuine and validating while also being direct, real, and down to earth. For more than a decade, I have dedicated myself to becoming skilled at and intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence based practices, such as exposure and response prevention.
Throughout my career, I have also gained expertise in treating a wide range of eating disorders. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and am an iaedp approved supervisor. I am firmly rooted in a Health At Every Size approach.
I’ve been a student of yoga and meditation for 20 years and have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training. My background in yoga and eastern-based practices helps me to take a holistic approach to therapy, understanding and integrating the connection between body and mind.
Many of my clients have been marginalized and felt stigmatized, whether based on a diagnosis like Borderline Personality Disorder or living in a larger body. In individual sessions, I work hard to create a space that feels safe, compassionate and validating. Outside of the therapy office, I work to challenge negative assumptions about clients that exist in the mental health field and fight for people in bodies of all shapes, sizes, and abilities to be treated with dignity and respect.
Reaching out can be daunting, especially if it’s your first time trying therapy or if you’ve gone to therapy before but are still feeling stuck. I’ve helped many people who’ve felt that exact same way go on to find happiness, meaning and joy in their lives. I’d love to talk about how we might work together to make those changes happen in your life, too.
