Brant Thomsen
Psychotherapist, EMDR Clinician - LICSW, EMDR
I am a therapist because I am passionate about the emotional well being of others. I am comfortable with assisting adults and children with evaluating what there current situation is, even if that can’t identify it or put a name on it. One of the good things about coming to a therapist, is that we can completely focus on your understanding of what you need.
APPROACHES: Person-Centered, Solution Focused, Play Therapy, Eclectic Therapy. My approach is ‘person centered’, meaning our focus is entirely on you and your experience, rather than on an identified problem or strategy first. There are also times when focusing our energy on solutions, is most important. It can be positive in tone, and lead to solutions, and is effective if we know therapy will be short term. I also use unique parts of who I am and incorporate them into therapy. I do work with my parrot, who has vocabulary and real emotions, when it is helpful. I do use music, myself being a pianist. I do use plants and items that are symbolic of nature in therapy. I do play. SPECIALIZATIONS- Children with histories of trauma, anxiety, and school based emotional needs. Adults with trauma, anxiety, depression, fatherhood, gender identity issues, and individualized applications of EMDR therapy.
