Changes are exciting and scary. Moves, jobs, relationships, school, and figuring out who you are – there are so many changes. One day you notice you aren’t sleeping quite right. You spend more time laying awake and thinking or worrying about these changes. During the day you are drifting off; lost in thought. You find yourself questioning the changes and your choices leading up to and after the transitions. What was once exciting and something you were looking forward to now leaves you on the brink of tears; worried about what is happening. You have ongoing conversations about feeling confused, lost, overwhelmed, hurt, and stuck. Distress, difficulties, and challenges disrupts many aspects of our lives. This disruption often leads us to attempt to cope in a variety of ways, and one of these may be seeking out a therapist
All you want is to feel like you again – or even to figure out who the new you is. You want to spend time with your family and friends without the nagging voice in the back of your head questioning your decisions. You want the thoughts of: It won’t get better. I will not be successful. I will not find happiness. I made a mistake, to quiet down.
Each of us encounters challenges in the course of creating a full life. I strongly believe that developing a trusting, open, warm, and collaborative therapeutic relationship is the foundation for change and success in therapy. I strive to connect with my clients and provide a balance between empathetic support and challenging of ineffective behaviors in order to promote growth. Change is often a difficult, challenging, rewarding, and beautiful process. I assist clients in living a full, meaningful, and successful life. I will offer my thoughtfulness, creativity, and passion in our work together. Through our therapeutic relationship, I hope to share in the process of developing insight and growth.
