Some of the things you might experience in individual therapy with me include talk therapy, expressive arts, dream/imaginal work, Hakomi (mindfulness and somatic awareness techniques), meditative exercises, and EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Many clients experience deep lasting change through attachment focused, somatically oriented EMDR therapy.
I have a particular interest in helping people experiencing crises of faith or meaning, major life transitions, “mid-life crises” and exploration of life path or career path, or any deeper exploration of the inner landscape. I love working with parents throughout the many stages of parenting, including pregnancy, post-natal period, blended families and empty-nesters.These difficult transitions can become opportunities to create more authentic, fulfilling lives and relationships.
With couples, I use a developmental/attachment-based model created by The Couples Institute. I love this approach because we get right to work identifying the problems and figuring out what each partner can do to improve the relationship. You’ll learn some great stuff in the very first session and won’t spend your precious time arguing in front of a therapist.
While I have experience treating many people with various problems, mental health issues and diagnoses, I prefer to focus on strengths over pathology. After all, you are a PERSON, not a problem or symptom! My goal is to serve as a guide and create a setting in which you can access your own wisdom and move towards the good stuff: peace, contentment, confidence and wholeness. I’ll meet you where you are and together we’ll develop a treatment plan to help you reach your goals.
