Ara O’Hayre
Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate - MFTC
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable. As your potential therapist it is my job to help you to feel safe and supported as we begin our work together. Part of the way I go about doing this is by letting you know you have the right to know a little bit about me. You have the right to know what makes me a good choice for joining you on your personal emotional journey.
Education: I have been pursuing an education in psychotherapy since the year 2007. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology with a minor in Human Resources (Organizational Development). I also hold a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. Both of these degrees were attained at Regis University.
Credentials: I am a Marriage and Family Therapy Candidate (MFTC.0013635) with the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). I am supervised by Janna Phillips; LMFT #1202, LCSW #1524, LAC. I currently am working towards licensure with the state of Colorado.
Experience: Like many of us, through my life’s journey I too have suffered. Through this suffering I have come to know emotional pain. Not only my own, but also the pain of those I love dearly. Through all of my life these experiences have cultivated within me a developed sense of empathy. It is this sense of empathy that enables and inspires me to join with others as they walk through their own pain. I have walked in empathy with others from the time I was 13 years old, first as a peer counselor, then as a volunteer, later as a relational trainer in corporate America, and finally as a therapist.Through these experiences I have worked with children experiencing behavioral difficulties, with elderly individuals and families facing end of life experiences, with families struggling with divorce and step or blended family challenges, and with individuals and families seeking to recover from trauma. Whatever your walk of life, I aspire to connect with, hold space, and invite relief for your struggles.
