Angela Walker
Psychotherapist -
My name is Angela “Angie” Walker and I am Licensed mental health counselor, qualified supervisor, a born and raised fourth generation Floridian, wife and mom. My counseling career began working in substance abuse treatment facilities and dual diagnosis centers. I had the privilege of being mentored and supervised by talented and seasoned clinicians that all infused unique pieces along the way. Since I have a thirst for knowledge and am fascinated by neuroscience, I continued to enrich my therapeutic skills. Working with individuals and families to overcome the effects of trauma and breakthrough repetitive patterns has been both a rewarding and humbling journey. I truly value this precious work and consider it a privilege to serve others in their journeys of discovery, change and healing.I hold a Bachelor’s of Science (BS) degree in Psychology from Regent University and a Master’s of Science (MS) in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. I have earned and maintain membership in the International Psychology Honor Society, Psi Chi. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida, a Master Certified Addiction Professional, MCAP, in the State of Florida, an Internationally Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, ICADC and also certified through Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association, EAGALA, in mental health. In addition, I am a trained EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) therapist. Currently, I am completing a Brain Health Coaching Certification at Amen University.I have extensive experience in the field and specialize in trauma, codependency, relationships and attachments.I have adopted an integrative therapy approach to psychotherapy. This means that I believe there is no single approach that can treat each client in all situations and value individual interests and needs as well as personal circumstances. My approach infuses aspects from Client centered, Trauma informed, Solution focused, Cognitive behavioral, Attachment theory, Mindfulness, Motivational interviewing, EMDR and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to tailor therapy to reach the individual and/or family’s treatment goals.
