Andrew Kaplan

Licensed Mental Health Counselor -

Welcome! You’ve come here because you want change. Perhaps you feel stuck or experience depression, anxiety, or pain that keeps you from living a full life – the life you know you want and are ready for. Or maybe you’re here just because you’re curious about psychotherapy. And about yourself. What is therapy? You may have heard about various therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Gestalt, Relational Therapy, or Mindfulness-Based Therapy. Each therapeutic approach provides effective tools for uncovering and changing unwanted patterns. But the most powerful element is one that’s shared by all forms of psychotherapy: the relationship you build with your counselor. How does therapy work? Therapy is a space in which you and I build a relationship. Through our conversation you will learn about other relationships that shape your life. Relationships with other people and with parts of yourself, such as the parent, the doer, the dreamer, and the child who still lives within you. This takes place in the space that we mutually create: one that emphasizes your strengths, values, and goals, and helps you to find both humor and meaning in your journey.
