Andrea Freerksen
Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW, MA
Struggling in relationships, at work or school? Life can be challenging, and sometimes we need extra support. Therapy is a safe place where we work on bearing witness to what has already happened, learning new skills to make desired changes, and visioning the future to become your best self. My goal with my clients is to build up the client’s strengths so eventually they can stop coming to therapy because they can manage on their own. We will work together to uncover what is holding you back, and develop the skills you need to live a rich, full life.
I empower clients to overcome problems related to life transitions, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, work and academic stress, relationship and family conflicts, divorce and separation, grief and loss, chronic illness and pain, insomnia, youth behavioral problems, trauma, self-harm, violence, abuse, as well as issues related to marginalized identities (racism, sexism, homo- and trans-phobia).
I’m creative, collaborative, transparent, and directive. I use a collaborative, strengths-based approach that enhances skills you already use to manage stress, mixed with a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques: CBT, EMDR, DBT, ACT, and family systems. Rather than just one technique, I tailor my sessions to meet the needs of my client.
