Amy Leary
LCSW, LCAS
My practice offers individual therapy for adults and adolescents. With compassionate, nonjudgmental listening, I provide a supportive space where you can safely explore areas for healing and growth. My approach is collaborative and relies on an active exchange to determine the focus of our work. Together, we clarify your current experience and what you would like to see happen as a result of therapy. Often an initial, motivating desire for peace leads to a process that involves learning new skills and making new connections in our lives, with resources or relationships or both. Therapy leads to new ways of seeing and doing that can result in feeling better. Through a therapeutic relationship over time, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, and with compassionate awareness, experience meaningful growth.
Having worked in the mental health community since 1994, I am experienced in assessment, counseling, crisis intervention and resource connection for diverse needs. My work includes inpatient behavioral health and outpatient treatment settings where I learned to value coordinated care efforts, especially when co-occurring conditions exist. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist practicing in North Carolina, I provide therapy for depression, anxiety, grief, addiction and other mental health issues. I enjoy working with people who want to overcome or cope with difficult situations or emotions, restore confidence or hope, repair or build relationships, create healthier patterns, or establish and maintain recovery. Trained in mindfulness practices and yoga for behavioral health, I incorporate these practices into therapy when there is interest. Please call with any questions, to schedule appointments.
